The Holy Family Conference started in 1903, taking its name from the new Holy Family School which opened in the same year. The School itself was more than an Education centre, as it was also our Church for a number of years, until the new Church, Presbytery and Hall were built.
In 1946 The Holy Family Conference was aggregated, joining the Conferences of Scotland & the World. The members today try to operate, offering support and help within the Parish, in the same way our founder members did over a Century ago.
John McTiernan, in recognition of his 50 years service in the S.V.D.P, the Parish and in the wider community, has been
awarded the Benemerenti Medal by Pope Benedict XVI, which was presented to him by Cardinal O`Brien at a ceremony
in St Philomena RC Church on Friday 30th July, 2010. A wonderful, moving and joyous occasion, and a fitting tribute to John himself,
followed by a splendid buffet lunch in the hall.
Over the years we have held Senior Citizens Lunchs in St Philomena`s Hall (with the help of West Lothian Council for their generous contribution).
